‘Higher Ground’ is a drama movie directed by Vera Farmiga . It’s Vera Farmiga’s directorial debut and it was presented in January 2011 at the Sundance Film Festival. Vera Farmiga, Donna Murphy and John Hawkes played the main characters in the movie.
The story of ‘Higher Ground’ is about a woman’s spiritual journey. It’s about memory of a woman who starts asking herself questions about what she’s been taught. She spent her life in a church and grew up there. Though the concept showed a bit sharp in many places of the church but the observation is loving and fair. The concept of the movie is really attractive and full of ideas. We have seen Vera Farmiga’s on-screen performance a lot of time but this is her first performance both behind and in front of the camera. She played Corrine’s character nicely while showing her creativity behind the camera. Donna Murphy and John Hawkes also played their part beautifully which increased the beauty of this simple yet beautiful movie.
